The Ernie Ball Music Man BFR JP15 in Toxic Sludge is a bold and uncompromising instrument built to meet the demands of John Petrucci’s progressive mastery. Part of the exclusive Ball Family Reserve line, this JP15 features a stunning Buckeye Burl top over a Black Limba body, finished in a striking high-gloss “Toxic Sludge” burst that perfectly complements its exotic tonewoods. This guitar delivers boutique craftsmanship with the reliability and performance of Music Man’s finest USA production.
Its figured roasted maple neck is paired with an ebony fingerboard, custom JP15 inlays, and 24 stainless steel medium jumbo frets for incredible playability and durability. The sculpted 5-bolt neck joint ensures unhindered access to the upper register, while the 17" radius offers a flat, fast playing surface ideal for both speed runs and expressive bends. Schaller M6-IND locking tuners and Music Man’s custom John Petrucci floating tremolo with Fishman Powerbridge piezo saddles provide rock-solid tuning stability and tonal versatility, from subtle shimmer to aggressive dive bombs.
Under the hood, the JP15 BFR is equipped with a DiMarzio Sonic Ecstasy humbucker set paired with a piezo bridge system. This configuration offers everything from crushing high-gain tones and lush cleans to acoustic-style voicings—all selectable via a 3-way magnetic switch and a dedicated piezo/magnetic selector. The onboard Music Man active preamp with push/push volume boost and passive tone with coil configurations provides expanded sonic options, ensuring the JP15 can handle any style or stage with authority.

Really, there's no sales tax?
There's no sales tax outside of TN. Since we're a small business, we only have to collect sales tax on in-state orders.

Can I request a setup w/ my preferred strings?
Yes, but that will come at additional charge that varies depending on the guitar. Our Pro-Tech Setup is free for every guitar using its stock strings.

In short, please allow us up to three business days to ship your guitar. We do our Pro-Tech setups right before the guitar leaves us so that it is ready to play once it reaches you. Normally, it only takes a day or two for us to ship out your guitar.
