The 1996 Ibanez J. Custom RG1702 is a rare and exceptional instrument from Ibanez’s top-tier J. Custom line, hand-built at the legendary Fujigen factory in Japan. A true showcase of high-end Japanese craftsmanship, this model features premium tonewoods, flawless construction, and a level of detail only found in J. Custom instruments. The AAAA flame maple top beneath a lustrous Silky Black gloss finish makes an immediate visual statement, while the Bare Knuckle pickups and Lo-Pro Edge tremolo deliver boutique tone and precision playability.

At the heart of this RG1702 is a resonant mahogany body topped with AAA-grade flame maple, paired with a fast three-piece maple neck and slab rosewood fretboard. The neck shape is Ibanez’s revered J. Custom RG profile, designed for speed and comfort, with jumbo frets, a Top Lok III nut, and Gotoh tuners for rock-solid performance. 

Condition: This 1996 Ibanez J. Custom RG1702 is in good condition. This guitar is in good condition for being 30 years old, but there are plenty of obvious signs it is 30 years old - cosmetically speaking. Dings, scratches, surface marks, etc. are all over the guitar. You can see photos for reference, but this guitar has obviously been loved and played over the best 30 years. Again, this is only cosmetically speaking. This guitar includes our Pro-Tech setup so it is ready to play straight out of the box.
